POSTING GUIDELINES
1. The main method for characters to interact is third person, past tense posts in![[info]](http://www.insanejournal.com/img/community.gif)
darkesthour_rpg.
2. (a) All characters are expected to be involved in a post in thedarkesthour_rpg community at least once in a two week period. There is no maximum amount to which characters can post, but please keep in mind that every single thing does not need to be RP’d. We would rather see one or two substantive, character developing posts in a two week period than ten or twelve posts that really give no purpose at all.
(b) A post that counts towards a character’s minimum posting requirement is one that the character creates him/herself, or one that a character joins in (excluding group threads ie: parties, funerals, weddings etc.). Introspective posts or owls do not count towards a character’s minimum posting requirement, though they are welcome and encouraged, of course.
(c) If for some reason, because of plot or other, a character submits more solitary posts than interacting with other characters, please contact the mods. If you as a player are having troubles coming up with ways for your character to interact with others, please do not hesitate in contacting the mods - we are here to help you.
(d) We understand that real life happens, and if you require a hiatus from the game, please contact the mods immediately. If you fail to meet the minimum posting requirements, you will be given a warning. If after the third day from when the warning has been given and you have not addressed the situation and/or the mods have been unable to contact you, the mods reserve the right to regain control of your character(s) and remove you from the game.
(e) No character shall have more than three (3) incomplete threads at any given time. This does not apply to any group threads (ie: parties, funerals, weddings etc.)
(f) Every thread is open for a maximum of fourteen (14) days, following which the thread must be marked as complete, regardless of actual status.
(g) If a thread has exceeded the maximum of seven (7) days prior to when the players feel the RP has been completed, and the players involved in the RP thread wish to complete the thread, anyone of those players can apply to the mods for a 48 hour grace period to complete the RP. The grace period must be applied within 30 days of the posted thread's ending date. After the 30 days has passed, no grace periods can be granted for that particular RP thread. Only three (3) grace periods per character will be granted in a 30 day period. Any unused grace periods cannot be banked for future use.
Extenduating circumstances will be given consideration upon the player contacting the mods.
3. Owl posts shall be no more than ten (10) posts long. Keep in mind that these are creatures with limitations and although magical, are not miraculous. Owl posts and threads should only contain owl icons as well and not icons of your PB.
4. For every thread between two (or even more) characters where the characters are involved in a sexually explicit way, there must be one thread of non-sexual content between these same characters that happens in game time before another thread of sexual content can be played. Therefore, if there is a thread between Character A and Character B that contains a sexual encounter between them only, there must be an RP thread between only Character A and Character B without sexual content before they have another RP thread. It does not count if Character A and Character B are in a thread of non-sexual content with another character. Why? We are striving for character development and although this does involve relationships and sex, those areas should not consume your character(s).
5. There will be no more than one (1) Player initiated major event per weekend within the game. A calendar will be provided to the players by the mods and updated on a regular basis. Should you wish to reserve an event (ie: wedding, grand opening of a business), please make sure you contact the mods with your request. This is not to limit player creativity, rather to prevent player burn-out.
6. All posts indarkesthour_rpg must begin with the following header:
Please keep your completion and rating up to date. If the thread begins at PG and starts to turn NC-17, it is important that you update this information immediately.
This is the rating system you should refer to:
G: suitable for all readers. Does not contain any profanity or sexual content. Violence is at a bare minimal, if present at all.
PG: mild use of profanity and violence, mild sexual innuendo are allowed.
PG-13: can contain violence, brief nudity, sensuality, moderate use of profanity, adult activities, drug usage but does not reach the restricted R category.
R: can contain adult themes, strong profanity, intense or persistent violence, sexually-oriented nudity, drug abuse.
NC-17: no person under the age of 17 should read the material. Rating is used for material of intense violence, sex, sexual activity, aberrational behavior, drug abuse and strong profanity.
If you have any questions regarding the rating of your post, please contact the mods.
7. Place holders should be used sparingly and only for a 24 hour period. If the post has not been started after the 24 period has ended, the post will be deleted by the mods and the players can choose to RP the situation indarkestpensieve.
